The Sun may have moved into Cancer, but don’t expect this season to be restful. This month begins with a Mercury cazimi bringing our minds and desires more firmly together and looking towards the future and the actions we are taking for our emotional needs now. The Sun will now be trailing behind Mercury who is moving swiftly this month, and could create a bit of a delayed response as we consider and weigh new ideas and approaches. This month’s Full Moon in Capricorn at 11° on July 3 emphasizes integrity in our new goals, which inherently requires integrity in how we are taking care of ourselves. This is certainly a month to walk your talk, or change something to match, as it will become very obvious to yourself and those around you where you have been putting your energies. The Sun makes a square to Chiron in Aries at 19° July 12, helping us to recognize if we are taking enough time to nurture ourselves and heal so that our actions more firmly reflect the new sense of self we are holding space for. It’s important to recognize where healing work still exists and to be humble as a sextile to Uranus in Taurus at 22° a couple of days later can take the identity we are manifesting to a whole new level based on what we are attracting with our new values. Make sure you are putting yourself in the position to attract what you desire now. This month’s New Moon in Cancer at 24° on July 17 could have us opening up to a whole new future as we plant the seeds for the new belonging we are feeling with the care we are taking for ourselves now. Cancer season closes out with the last opposition the Sun will make to Pluto in Capricorn in our lifetime. Pluto, who is generally retrograde at this time of the year, will be at 29°08’(r) allowing us to reconsider the integrity of the goals we had in the past and how we responded based on how we felt about certain ruling structures in our lives. You may be able to see more clearly what old ways of structuring your life no longer apply based on the new forms of care you are accepting for yourself. Once the Sun moves into Leo July 22, the Sun will not see a major aspect until the Full Moon in Aquarius on August 1, use this time to try on the new forms of care you have decided to adopt, to see how it allows you to bring more joy into your life. We make these transitions every year, but it can be helpful to recognize benchmarks for yourself and how you grow every year. This is often more easily seen in how we take care of ourselves (Cancer) and how we allow ourselves to experience the joy and happiness (Leo) that we ultimately devote ourselves to on a daily basis (Virgo). Once we move into Libra season, we are able to take this inner growth process back out into the world to see how it resonates with others.

Mercury Cancer 9° – Virgo 4°
Mercury continues on with his forward momentum this month as he makes his way through the rest of Cancer, and all of Leo. Now that he is ahead of the Sun our minds will be more focused on the future and how we are implementing our new perspective. Mercury’s journey through Cancer will highlight the mindset that we need to take the actions required for our new level of emotional care. We are receiving support on many deep levels for this mental transition via the planets in Taurus who are helping us stick to our new values. A square to Chiron in Aries at 19° July 6 could bring an opportunity for healing old mindsets- pay attention to anything that triggers your defenses, this could be where you need some mental shoring up before the Sun makes its own square July 12. Where do you need to find some more clarity around how you feel moving forward with a new way of care? Is there something still lingering from your old mindset holding you back from leveling up? Mercury in Cancer makes his last opposition to Pluto in Capricorn July 10 and you just might finally FEEL with your new perspective the foundational blocks that have been crumbling since 2008. This new felt sense could spark some interesting changes as Mercury moves into Leo and our minds focus on what brings us joy. Mercury will make squares to The North Node, Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus and you may find that you have outgrown old joys and entertainments in favor of new tangible experiences more in alignment with your new values. This may require us to heal some old wounds and face some long held fears around the joy we believed we could have in our lives. You may start to understand where your perspective has led to lack of action and excessive precaution. A conjunction to Venus (retro) at 28° along with a trine from the North Node newly in Aries at 29° July 27-28 could have you surprising yourself with what you’re willing to dip your toes into for fun. Mercury moves into Virgo, the home of his next retrograde (later next month!) July 28 and our minds will be ready to sort out the details on how to bring this new joy into our daily rituals.

Venus in Leo will be enjoying a rather quiet month as she slips into her retrograde phase, her interactions will pick up in August and September when she squares the planets in Taurus again. This month Venus makes her first square to Uranus in Taurus at 21° and we are starting to open up to believing in new forms of joy for ourselves that are in alignment with our new values and identity. This is a process that will take several months to work through as we move away from what brought us joy in the past along with the old beliefs we identified with. Venus in Leo is assisting us in our leveling up process by helping us see that we can aim higher in our abilities to feel joy in our lives. Letting go of old joys is a journey in understanding what no longer fulfills us and where we are identifying with the past. It will take time to recognize what those things/activities/etc. are in order to determine how we will make changes in our lives for our highest good. All the work that we are doing this Cancer season to level up our emotional care, goes hand in hand with how we are finding new ways of lighting our fire. Mercury’s conjunction with Venus at the end of the month allows our new perspective to help guide Venus in her retrospection around the joy we are hoping to manifest now.

Mars spends the first 9 days of the month finishing out his time in Leo, and you may find your activities and drive are leaning towards your desires for the future. You may find yourself more capable of doing tedious tasks you would normally overlook in order to make room for something new that you desire. Quinxcunxes to both Neptune and Pluto July 6-9 will have you taking action for the future of your new joy, but make sure it is a broad action that reflects your new integrity. Once in Virgo Mars will be ready to focus on the details of bringing this joy (or not) into our daily lives. Pay attention to where perfectionism or other “obstructions” are keeping you from evolving your daily life. Mars makes an opposition to Saturn (retro) in Pisces at 6° July 20 and we will be required to explore a new balance between the way we go about our daily lives and the new styles of deeper connection that we are opening up to. You may recognize it’s time for a daily routine change to accommodate your new spiritual desires.
